Nominated as the Republican Nominee for CU Regent/4thCD

My message has resonated, and it showed at the 4th Congressional Assembly on Friday when I received 87% of the vote. I am honored to be the Republican nominee for CU Regent representing the 4th Congressional District.  I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and now it’s time to focus on November.

My platform for Intellectual Diversity in higher education will be more important than ever during the general election. Financial accountability is crucial as well, especially with continued tuition hikes. Programs must be streamlined and waste eliminated.

Ronald Reagan in his farewell address said “An informed patriotism is what we want”.  For most of our history we learned love of country at a young age: what made America great, how hard it was to gain liberty, and how important it is to retain our liberty.  College students are graduating with degrees but not an education on our Constitution or the greatness of our nation.  How are we to retain our liberty without that education?  The Center for Western Civilization needs to continue making progress and ideological bias in the classroom must cease to be an issue for our students.

What’s next? I’m looking for volunteers, and my focus on fundraising is stronger than ever. A contribution of $10, $20, $50 or more will make a tremendous difference.  Click on the Donate Now tab to contribute to our campaign.

To continue building a strong campaign, I will need help from you. I have a proven reputation for working hard, but I can’t do it on my own. Please join me in making a difference in higher education.

Staying Busy, Working Hard, and Being Productive

It’s been six months since I entered the race for Regent.  It’s hard to believe the time has gone by so quickly; six months from now, we will have the general election behind us.  As I review the first six months of my campaign, it has been a great experience.  The best part has been the wonderful people I have met, the encouragement, support and kind words.

I’m the only candidate in this race who has attended the Regent’s meetings, visited with faculty, students, CU President Bruce Benson and toured three of the four campuses. I have spoken at 912 groups in Loveland, Windsor, Greeley, and Longmont, met with the College Republicans at CU, and spoken at various breakfast, lunch and dinner groups.  In addition, I have traveled across the 4th Congressional District attending Lincoln Day Dinners, and have attended most of the County Assemblies. In fact, one day I traveled nearly 700 miles to attend 4 assemblies.  In total I have traveled nearly 10,000 miles since the first of the year.

I’m now in the process of making 594 phone calls to Delegates to introduce myself as a candidate and answer questions that folks may have regarding the Regents race.

My belief is that if you want to get elected to office, you better earn each and every vote.  If a person isn’t willing to work hard as a candidate, it’s easy to wonder how hard  they will work once elected to office.  I have earned endorsements from people who know me and know where I stand on Conservative principles and values.   In addition, I’m the only candidate in the race to have any endorsements.

As I look forward to the next six months, I’m confident to have built a coalition of support for a successful outcome in the November election.  The election began for me the day I became a candidate and won’t end until 7:00 p.m. November 2nd. I’ve been working hard for the last six months, and when elected, will continue to work hard as Regent for the 4th Congressional District.

The few, the proud: CU-Boulder the No. 1 campus for Marines aviation training program

Great story regarding the marines aviation training program, CU should be proud to be No. 1 in this category.  I will work as Regent to ensure  the ROTC program is respected and valued.  Thank you to our fine students at CU that are serving our country as well.  It is an honor to have these fine patriots on our campus.

Education and Civic Literacy

CSPAN interview on Intercollegiate Scholastic Institute’s recent article regarding education and American Civics.  College graduates are more likely to be liberalized than non college graduates.  The more education there is on American Civics the more conservative an individual is.  Take a look at the video:  http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/292041-5 .

I hope you’ll support me as I work to get this message out as a candidate to change this imbalance in higher education.   The preservation of our nation depends on the education of our youth.
